Rev. Dr. Young was born and raised in the New Brunswick area for most of his childhood and young adult years.  He graduated from Linwood Jr. High (now Linwood Middle School) in 1968 and was a member of the class of 1971 of New Brunswick High School – GO ZEBRAS!  In 1976 he graduated from Rutgers College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy.  He attended Wesley Theological Seminary on the campus of American University in Washington, D.C. and received the Masters of Divinity degree in 1981.  In May of 1989, Rev. Dr. Young had the degree of Doctor of Ministry conferred upon him from Drew School of Theology at Drew University, Madison, NJ.

Rev. Dr. Young was ordained as a Deacon in 1978 and then as an Elder in June of 1982 of the United Methodist Church by Bishop C. Dale White.  He has served United Methodist congregations in New Jersey since 1980.  His pastorates include:  the Associate Pastor of Red Bank UMC (1980-86); the Pastor of Pennsauken UMC (1986-92); the Senior Pastor of Saint Paul UMC, Willingboro (1992-2003); the Senior Pastor of Princeton UMC (2003-2008); and, the Pastor of the UMC at New Brunswick (2008-present).  In being appointed to the New Brunswick congregation by Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar, Rev. Dr. Young returns to his home church where he was baptized and confirmed.

Rev. Dr. Young is married to Cindy Roos Young, Douglass College class of 1978.  They celebrate 31 years of marriage in June of 2009.  Greg and Cindy met while attending Rutgers University.  Greg was a member of the Rutgers Glee Club and Cindy was a member of the Rutgers Women’s Chorale.  They met on the evening when both choirs performed a joint concert on Douglass campus in the Voorhees Chapel.  They have two sons, Andrew and Stephen.  Andrew has a Bachelor of Arts degree in film production from Temple University and is a film and video editor for Shooters in Philadelphia, PA.  He is Married to Kristine Nicoloff Young and they reside in Bucks County, PA.  Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Cook College and works as an emergency veterinary nurse in Langhorne, PA.  He also resides in Bucks County, PA.

Rev. Dr. Young spends his Fridays (his weekly day off) fishing, playing golf or enjoying model railroading.  In addition to his theological and professional reading, Rev. Dr. Young enjoys reading science fiction and Tom Clancy novels.  He has been a member of Rotary International since serving in Willingboro and is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of New Brunswick.  He especially enjoys attending Rutgers Glee Club concerts and Rutgers home football games with his wife.
